Q: Do I have to use a credit card to pay for my order?

A: In addition to payment via credit card, Kits for Crafts accepts PayPal, certified checks and money orders. Our online shopping cart does NOT require you to place your credit card information online. During your online checkout, you will be offered the opportunity to select to phone or fax your credit card information.

Q: Do I have to place my order online?

A: Although our Web site is automated to offer the most expedited method of fulfilling your order, we are delighted to accept your order by telephone or fax. To place your order by telephone, please call us at (800) 650-0560 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. If you would like to place your order by fax, please prepare a fax that includes your full name, billing address, shipping address, telephone number, e-mail address, and method of paying. If you are paying by credit card, please include your credit card number, expiration date and the security number on the back of your credit card. Our fax number is (203) 267-6065.

Q: Can I stop by your store to pick up my order?

A: We're sorry for any inconvenience, but we do not have a storefront. For legal reasons, we are not able to permit customers to pick up orders from our shipping facility. Thank you very much for your understanding.

Q: What is your return policy?

A: We cannot guarantee the purity of our merchandise or resell it once it has left our facility and therefore, there are no returns on ingredients. We do accept authorized returns on non-ingredient merchandise. There are absolutely no unauthorized returns. We are not able to issue credit on unauthorized returns, and merchandise returned without authorization will be discarded. We are not able to make exceptions to this policy.

In the event that we make an error, we will of course gladly authorize the return of incorrect or defective merchandise and pay for the return shipping costs.

Most of our products such as butters, oils, essential oils, herbs & hydrosols, come from natural sources. They are subject to a normal range of variations in color, texture, odor etc. These variations can be due to seasonal changes such as temperature, rainfall, sunlight and other variables. These differences from batch to batch are normal and are not regarded as defects in the product quality. We cannot accept returns due to these variations because we cannot resell the product once it has left our facility. We strongly urge you to please purchase a small quantity of ingredients that are new to you before placing a larger order.

Our fragrance oils reflect only a fraction of the infinite number of possible formulations that can be created. Fragrance oils can vary between retailers, and our version of a fragrance may differ significantly from another retailer's version, or from what you were expecting. Since we do not accept returns on fragrance oils or other ingredients, we offer our products in very small sizes that are useful for testing purposes. We urge you to take advantage of our small quantity sizes and no minimum order restrictions to try out our ingredients.

Q: Is your online checkout secure?

A: Yes. Our secure server will encrypt your information. We own a valid certificate offered by Thawte.

Q: How much do you charge for shipping?

A: Shipping costs are determined by the total weight and destination of your order. We are not able to estimate the final shipping fee without your completed order. Once you have placed your items in the shopping cart and you go to checkout, you can look up the estimated shipping charges. Thank you for understanding that the listed charge is only an estimate. Because large orders cannot often get shipped in a single box, we sometimes need to separate orders into multiple shipments. We have expert packagers that keep both your shipping fees and the protection of your order in mind when determining how best to package your order. We reserve the right to charge you the exact shipping costs once they have been determined.

Q: What shipping methods are available?

A: We ship by UPS domestic ground, UPS Next Day, UPS 2 Day, UPS 3 Day, UPS Standard to Canada, USP Express to Canada and UPS Worldwide Express. Shipping charges are calculated on a per order basis and are based on the weight and destination of your order. We generally ship orders within 48 hours. During the holiday season, however, shipping times may be longer. Express services may be requested. We offer an "in-house RUSH" service for an additional $5. Our in-house RUSH service speeds up the processing of your order so that it is processed before any non rush orders that are placed the same day. We also offer an "in-house PRIORITY" service for an additional $10. In-house Priority orders leave our facility the same business day or the next business day.

Q: Do you ship overseas?

A: Yes. Shipping is via UPS Standard to Canada, USP Express to Canada and UPS Worldwide Express. After you enter your shipping address, you will be provided with the shipping options that are available for your destination.

Q: Can you ask UPS to leave my package at my door?

A: We will be happy to place your request on your box. We, however, cannot guarantee that UPS will comply with your request. Only UPS can decide if they feel it is safe to leave a package at your location as they will ultimately be responsible if the package gets stolen or misplaced. You may prefer to provide us with an address where someone will be home to receive the package for you.

Q: Do you ship via USPS?

A: We are sorry for any inconvenience, but we are not able to ship via USPS. The United States Postal Service makes it very difficult for us to get reimbursed for damaged or lost shipments. We have learned that UPS is much more reliable. If you live at an APO address or must have your order shipped via USPS, please have us ship your order to a friend or relative who can then forward the package to you by USPS.

Q: Can you ship orders C.O.D.?

A: We are sorry, but we are not able to ship orders via C.O.D.

Q: What is the difference between essential oils, fragrance oils and flavor oils?

A: An essential oil is a pure natural product obtained by the distillation of plant material. Unlike vegetable oils, essential oils are are volatile, meaning that they do not feel "oily," and they will evaporate. Essential oils are highly fragrant, very strong and concentrated and have medicinal properties related to the chemical constituents of the plant.

These oils are limited to the botanicals which yield a reasonable amount of oil from distillation and their prices are highly dependent upon the oil yield of a particular plant. Essential oils must be properly diluted and used with caution because they have such strong medicinal properties and because they can irritate the skin or cause sensitization if they are not properly diluted. Essential oils are a must for all natural skin care products. Some essential oils are safe for use in lip care products but please do your research first!

Fragrance oils are generally made from a combination of essential oils and synthetic aromatic compounds. They are rarely "all natural" although it can be done. Unlike essential oils which are limited to only those botanicals that supply a marketable quantity of their essential oils, fragrance oils are available in an unlimited array of scents. Fragrance oils are often much less expensive than essential oils. They, however, offer none of the therapeutic properties that essential oils offer. Fragrance oils do not need to be regulated like essential oils do, and fragrance oils are generally very easy to work with. They are generally used at 2-5% in formulations and can be used as perfume oils when diluted in a vegetable oil or jojoba. Our fragrance oils are cosmetic grade and are suitable for use in skin care products. Please, however, do not use fragrance oils in lip care products. Instead, please use flavor oils (see below).

Flavor oils are special fragrance oils that are approved for use in lip products. They can be used in any oil based formulation. Although they smell wonderful and their name does contain the word "flavor," they do not provide any flavor or taste to lip products. Please use at recommended rates.
